http://www.pbs.org/frontline/flyingcheap/ Is the aviation system being stretched beyond its capacity to deliver cheap, safe service? FRONTLINE explores the rise of the regional airline carriers and the hazards of "Flying Cheap," airing Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 9PM on PBS (check local listings at http://www.pbs.org/tvschedules).

One year after the deadliest domestic airline accident in seven years, FRONTLINE investigates the crash of Continental 3407 in Buffalo, NY, and discovers a dramatically changed airline industry, where regional carriers now account for half of the nation's daily departures. The rise of the regionals and arrival of low-cost carriers have been a huge boon to consumers, and the industry insists that the skies remain safe. But many insiders are worried that now, thirty years after airline deregulation, the aviation system is being stretched beyond its capacity to deliver service that is both cheap and safe.

  • Roger Cohen, the president of the RAA is a slick, fake tanned, spin meister. His nonverbal tells gave him a way. He nodded his head no but said the industry is safe. Just another know-nothing lawyer type that never worked a real job in his life.

  • Another Must Watch "Frontline"! I'll be there!

This problem goes 4 ways: Roger Cohen (and the dirty execs) exploit the 2nd problem: WILLING ASPIRING PILOTS who want to work as slaves for a big paycheck, and this is all due to passengers wanting to FLY CHEAP. To add icing to the cake, Federal authorities (FAA) still hasn't done anything to raise the min. wage of newly hired pilots (and ofcourse the average regional airline ticket).

The stage is set for disaster!

  • I'm so glad I quit being an airline pilot.

  • Wrong kid died

  • Wing was too small on that plane for those speeds.

  • this is soo sexy
