Torres was founded in 1870, and is still a family managed business to this day. The winery is based in Penedès near Barcelona but more recently they have purchased land and vineyards in Ribera del Duero, Toro, Rioja and Jumilla. Historically the most important time for Torres was in the 1960's when Miguel Torres introduced experimental plantings of French and German varietals, together with the most modern viticultural and vinicultural practices, effectively revolutionising the way in which wines were made in Spain. Today Miguel and his son, Miguel Junior, remain at the forefront of Spanish winemaking and continue to be Spain's most innovative and influential winemakers.
