@HacjienceYukona wow good point, never thought of it that way.

@HacjienceYukona I based half of my guitar playing on the Edge's style. I'm trying to find my own sound but it is so very influenced by his sound. I even use herdim picks. He's a great guitarist. He has so much passion for his "sound" and not just guitar playing.
He's a very technical guitar player and not a show off. He is already a legend in his own right.
I don't get the people hating him.

you missed mines
okay..without his pedals and effects..he still plays the same '3 unique chords'
....
......
...yea..about that....gonna go listen to Hendrix now
-
@thuymoney Sigh. Completely missed my point, haven't you.

SHUT UP! U2 and Edge are amazing. if you think U2 sucks you are fucking idiot
-
You`re right, thats why the Egde and U2 is boring...
-
sure, not disagreeing with that. only the edge fucking sucks, just listen to this "solo" wheres the creativity?
-
and they all do the same tricks over and over again, and didn't invent anything new.

I agree that it's more fun to play in a band(Steve Vai doesn't seems to be bored but...)so let's talk about David Gilmour or guitarists like that, they play in a band & they play really better than The Edge!
Finally i'll say that we're talking about a video which shows a "solo" from The Edge so at the beginning i didn't care about what he could do with chords, i was just shocked that people could find him wonderful in THIS video, that's certainly not a beautiful solo compared to others
And it's not just a matter of playing 3 chords with delay like you put it. You could pick up a guitar today, play three chords and sound NOTHING like him. There are many guitarists today who ape his effects but cannot come close to his sound. Know why? Because his chord construction is unique to U2.

What you don't understand is that while Steve Vai and Joe Satriani are great guitarists in their own right, The Edge is on a completely different planet. Players like Vai and Malmsteem and Satriani base their playing on the blues and you can hear that in every solo. The Edge, however, practically invented the entire spectrum he plays in. I defy you to find an instance of someone playing a riff like Streets or an intro like With Or Without You before The Edge.
