Good Fireworks Gone Bad! - Tofte, MN 7-4-09

I caught this fireworks malfunction on the shore of Lake Superior in Tofte, MN. A few seconds before this incident, a large shell exploded very close to the water and everyone cheered. I found out later this was due to a mortar breaking. The next shell barely left the mortar and landed in a pile of shells, which caused the chain reaction explosions! You see me stumble a bit because I was genuinely a little scared. We were only about 50 yards from the launching point and we thought the entire stash might be going up! There is another YouTube video by "applicite" that captures the entire event, but without sound. That video was shot from the other side of the launching area, where most of the spectators were located. A local fireman on the scene said no one was hurt, not even the pyrotechnicians at 'ground zero'!
