@bolshevikML you probably need to hit it directly and its a small target shielded from the rest of the fuslage where fragments and shit are ricochetting around inside. alot of the guys in the main fuslauge were probably killed not even by direct hits but by shrapnel, ricochete and spall

Ironically, although the ball turret was the most uncomfortable place in a FF, it was also the safest of the turrets, according to post-war casualty statistics.
BTW: Bomber Harris, do it again!

all Air gunners suffered, on the US planes it was the ball turret guys, on our Lancs it was the rear gunners. Those cannon on the BF109's made a real mess. Respect go with them all, cause I wouldn't have the courage they did.
