This tutorial is aimed at getting people used to more of the essential and basic tools that the FREE graphic software Paint.Net has to offer.

Paint.Net can be downloaded FOR FREE at http://www.getpaint.net/

This video covers:
-opening an image file
-opening multiple image files
-selecting an image file from your currently opened files
-closing image files
-saving image files
-quality settings when saving image files

This video was made with CamStudio, and the drawing was done with a Graphire 4 graphics tablet, made by Wacom.

Want to know more about graphics tablets? Check out my Graphics Tablets video: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=eyzsG9IOyMU

If you have topics that you'd like covered in future videos, please leave your suggestions for topics in the comments or send me a message.

Thanks for watching, and don't forget to check out the other parts of this tutorial.

More tutorials will be added as time passes, so find out when they do by subscribing to my channel.

NOTE: Please bear with me -- I'm having difficulty getting the audio and video to synchronize, so they are still a bit off -- I'll be trying to better tweak the settings for future videos.

  • I also want to add text... this seems cumbersome especially since I cant invert the text for an iron on picture I would like to do...any suggestions?

  • What you can do is select the text (say with the Lasso selection tool, for example), and then with the Move Selected Pixels tool, drag a side node to invert the text, and then once it's inverted, you can drag and drop the text to position it where desired.

  • Thank you for such great tutorials! I have my sons birthday party coming up and I would like to creat a put a cutout picture of his face onto a cartoon picture of a chef holding a pizza. Basically I want to be able to put my sons face instead of this cartoon guys face. How can I do that? In tutorial 3 you talked about pictures but not combining 2 or more pictures together to make some sort of collage. Thanks again!

  • What you could do is have the "chef" picture as the first image, and a picture of your son as the second image. On the second image, use the lasso tool to select your son's face and Edit/Copy. The going back to the first image, Add Layer and Edit/Paste that that face onto the chef's body, on the new layer, and the use the Move selected Pixels tool to resize the face with the corner nodes (while holding SHIFT), and then drag it into the proper place.

  • i have a Question?? what is the clone stamp for?!?!?

  • More or less, the clone stamp is used to duplicate an area of your image into another area. Select a brush size for it, and then while holding Ctrl, select the area you with to clone (this will be your anchor point), and then draw onto another area, and you'll begin to replicate your drawing in the new area, starting from your anchor point. It's probably best understood if you use that info and give it a try.
