I put this together for my son's first grade class. There is a companion presentation that goes with it. Ask me for it if you would like a copy. The video and the presentation are open to the public for use and alteration. I request no rights, however attribution can be a nice courtesy. My email address is faizoro@gmail.com. Just specify weather you would like it in OpenOffice, PDF, or PowerPoint format.

Notes:
1. The Presentation is a good segway into a discussion on evolution and or dinosaurs.
2. If you didn't know the answer to the question "why might iguanas need a third eye?" the answer is: to alert the iguana to the presence of predictors such as various birds of pray.

  • you mentioned that they already established the territory in the tank, did they fight at first or were they together since birth?

  • @BleedingOath They were together in the tank since I first owned them. I got them from someone who didn't want them any longer, and I recall that at first in my home- they fought some (perhaps it was the change of scenery or perhaps I didn't have the terrarium arranged in the same way) and then things calmed down. Ultimately I had to give one away as they grew more.

  • @faizoro Cool! Glad it worked out for you. I just picked up a baby myself to add to my collection of pets and he/she is proving to be a challenge!

  • @BleedingOath Yeah it's weird- I found taking care of iguanas very difficult at first- but if you both survive the first couple of years, you should find they are much easier pets to care for then say - cats etc. You just have to get your game down - reminders to feed etc. A cat will let you know when they have needs- iguanas are quiet and more subtle. Also for the first couple of years I recommend regular vet visits.

  • Did anyone else think he was gonna smack the shit out of the dinosaur?

  • @faizoro Well me and my and my girlfriend have an iguana already, 4 foot female. She's already tame and whatnot so it's not difficult to handle her or feed her. The baby we got is slowly getting comfortable with its new enclosure but he is clearly still stressed and you can tell by the black coloration on the top of his head rather than his usual blue/green color. We handle him everyday and try to get him to get used to us and so far he is slowly showing improvement :)

  • haha. my dad & I are thinking about getting an iguana. he had one growing up, but beinng a girl, Id rather have something more...furry? I was going for a guniea pig, lol. But iguanas look like theyd feel like a snake, and I hate snakes. and do they bite? And does it hurt? haa just things im wondering about!

  • I like lizards like Dragons and Dinosaurs, but I've never figured real living pet lizards!

They are so cute, funny, cool and AWESOME!

Thanks for the information! I want one right away! :D

    I laughed: 2:08 xD
