I have been a type 1 diabetic since the 13th of December 2006, I was diagnosed at 11 years old. Diabetes has made a huge difference and impact in my life, one too large to write down and go into detail here, I'd run out of characters! In my 3 and a half (ish) years with diabetes I have experienced discrimination, or "diabetic bullying", and I think it's time this sort of thing stops. It hurts deeper than you can imagine, singling someone out for something they can't change, it's the second largest pain I have ever experienced in my life, second only to getting diagnosed. And I've been scolded with noodles before! Anyway, I volunteered to do this for diabetes as I believe diabetes often gets forgotten about, and type 1 diabetes often gets looked as type 2 and something needs to be done.
Heres a quote I came up with yesterday --
"It just came to my realisation that if i could go back in time and make it so i didn't get diabetes i wouldn't. It has made me who i am, built me up, given me confidence, knowledge of the real world, and the chance to make a difference with diabetes... Don't get me wrong if i could have the cure now i would.. But I think I've reached a brand new level of acceptance with my diabetes. Took three and a half years and worth the wait. How about that!" -- Jade Whitmore
