Polar bears are dying. As global warming accelerates, the sea ice they depend on for survival is literally melting away. Bears are starving and drowning as they have to swim farther and farther to reach solid ice. Some are even turning to cannibalism in a desperate search for food. Those trapped on land hundreds of miles from the nearest ice often wander near villages in search of food and are shot.

As if that weren’t enough, oil and gas drilling is destroying and polluting their fast-dwindling Arctic habitat.

A third of all polar bears — including all bears in Alaska — will be extinct by 2050 if current trends continue. The rest of the species will be gone by the end of the century.

But it’s not too late to save the polar bear if we join together and take immediate action. The science is clear. We know what needs to be done — we just need to build the political support to do it.

  • Natural selection? Then how can your insufferable ignorance not only survive but flourish in all these youtube comment threads? You better start caring about life on this planet or you will surely go the way of the polar bear and the 10,000 other species that go extinct every year, many if not most due to human abuses. Someday I hope life's lessons will force you to eat the words you wrote here about these most wonderful creatures.

  • 1. Carbon Dioxide is a PRODUCT of temperature change, not a cause.

    2. The warmer it gets, the more polar bears there are.

    3. The temperature on earth is primarily dictated by the sun. We are currently entering a cooling period.

    4. C02, the main concern in this debate, is a primary fuel for life. The more C02, the more plants that can grow and thrive.

    5. The attempts to change public perception by using chemtrails to dissipate air moisture causing cities to warm up won't help you.

  • 'polar bears spend most of thier life in the water' quote from jack hana. 'chemtrails' are caused when any airplane passes through an area of high humidity causing a low pressure zone behind the aircraft, this forms a cloud behind the aircraft (see how clouds are formed). From early earth history- 'the earth's atmosphere was primarily carbon monoxide'. Global Warming cause california to have the coldest winter ever! how does warming cause cold tempertures?

  • have a heart people these animals are dying and your saying nobody cares, you and idiot if you cant reilize people actually do care.. there is no need for your ignorant comments

  • whoever has the name polarbearsrock2001 you are awesome and i thank you a lot for trying to save them. I<3 polar bears with all my heart and i would risk my life to save them

  • Im trying to save polarbears to!! if you look at my name its polarbearsrock2001

  • @edwaerin aww the poor bears. Please give me the UN sponsored global tax so we can stop this mess. We need global governance

  • @PonguigPeopinn I think you need to check your facts again. How are there more polar bears the warmer it gets? They drown and have no food... that seems like things that would deplete a population. If you were the one that had no home and no food you wouldnt be talking like that. What if it was your parents drowning while trying to find you something to eat?

And this cooling period.. thats strange considering this has been an extremely hot year here in ontario. Usually we hav snow by now

  • @phrozensolid1 there have been 5 mass extinctions in earths history, like the one that killed the dinosaurs, then humans came along, and are now causing the 6th and biggest mass extinction. Is driving cars and huge smoke stacks and aerosol cans depleting the ozone natural? I dont think so.. I really dont think anything humans do can be called natural anymore.

  • @enigma99a polar bears dont live in the antarctic and thats at the other end of the planet... of course temperatures and weather would be different there. If ur info is even correct.

  • @SummerKitty86 how exactly could someone help the polar bear? no one can lift a bear out of the water and even if they did try to.. they would just fall through the ice too
