The Maasai Heritage Preservation Foundation (MHPF) has a mission. We are building hope. We are providing a voice to the voiceless. We are doing this through education.
46 million children in Africa (which is nearly half the school age population), have never set foot in a classroom. Sadly, the smallest expenses are hampering the enrolment numbers at schools. We believe passionately that EVERYONE has the right to an education. It is through education that we believe that we will begin to see change in Africa.
Since 2000, the MHPF have been offering scholarship programme sponsorship for students in the most remote parts of the world. This has given opportunities for people to attend schools that otherwise would never have had the chance. In 2007, the MHPF have now established a new mission - to provide extensive quality education to the people who desperately need it.
The Foundation is currently working in both Kenya and Tanzania and for the past 2 years, we have supported a school in the Magadi region of Kenya, known as Memusi School. In 2008, support has extended to begin working with The Queen Elizabeth Academy in Mlali (TEAM). Both schools have been established locally, by people who have believed in making a difference. With each of these schools, the Foundation has agreed to help promote and guide the excellent work that has been started and work with the local communities in establishing and growing the schools in these regions.
MHPF is an organisation that is run on a completely voluntary basis. Every board member give their time due to the passion for their work, resulting in MHPF operating with 0% overhead. This is critical for MHPF in ensuring that EVERY penny donated is used to benefit the people who attend our schools. This is a very unique situation for any charity as we can directly relate all donations to an end result.
MHPF is an official 501(c)3 group in the USA. The charity registration number is:
Our organization mission is to give hope and a voice to indigenous groups around the world through education, community development, and poverty eradication.
