"She had some horses" is a lyrical documentary about the heart-felt connection between women and horses. The title is based a Joy Harjo poem by the same name (used with Ms. Harjo's permission). This 48-minute documentary follows Lynne Pomeranz, award-winning equine photographer, as she leads her Wild Horse Workshop participants among the wild horses in scenic locations around New Mexico; Jackie Fleming and Sandi Claypool are profiled as founders of horse sanctuaries; Shelly Gibbs, equine body-worker and animal communicator, tells about her journey to heal her horse, Copper; Rachel Waller and her eight-year old daughter, Cheyenne, join Lynne out on the public lands to see the wild horses before they disappear forever. "She had some horses" will remind you of the special bond that exists between humans and animals and inform you of the threats to the nation's wild horse. Special appearance by Madeleine Pickens, Saving America's Mustangs. Original Score by Mark Kashmar. Contact information: Donna Wells at donnaleewells@yahoo.com

  • Thanks, Jackie, it was a pleasure working with you. Your attitude about horses--that they are not here for human use and that they are their own "people" if you will, is inspiring. Your words about them being "servants," is the attitude of the world at large, not your attitude for sure. You take great loving care of your horses and I hope people enjoy watching them run free in the pasture in the opening of this piece. Thanks so much for all you do for horses. You are a great advocate!

  • i've always wanted to photograph our wild ones, but never had the opportunity. thank you for sharing so much!

  • i love their cute swirly dreadlocks!

  • Thanks again Donna and thanks for your kind words. It is amazing how many people out there think a horse that isn't 'useful' is being wasted. I know I get a lot of funny looks because I don't plan on riding any of mine!

Congratulations on a beautiful film so sensitively made that so poignantly conveys the sadness of the loss of our wild horses from the open range. Let me know what I can do to help get this film seen. XX Jackie

  • Yay Donna! Great trailer and great movie. I'll be posting this and sharing this! Let me know what I can do.... thanks again for letting me a part of it, Jackie
