PS3 - Blinking Red/Yellow LED, now what?

Here's the Original Story:
I've had the PS3 for almost a month now. It never gets hot where I am, and I've never ever done anything to it (drop, kick, feed soup, etc..)

So, I've also tried most of the tricks out there to get this to work. Anybody have some other ideas I could try? I would call Sony, but I'm military stationed overseas, so there is slim to no chance of a "Sony" supported store being out here, and to mail it back in and wait 3 to 4 months before getting it back is out of the question. So I've got to try to fix this myself. I need your help guys!

Update: I found another trick on the web that said if you remove your hard drive (does not void warranty) and turn it on, let it fail, put hard drive back in, and try it again all should be well. That trick does not work either.

Further Update: After paying close attention, I noticed that it goes from green, to yellow, three beeps, and then to red blinking. I read on the internet somewhere that yellow at any time indicates a hardware failure, especially with three beeps. So this sucks. From what I gather I'm one of the 0.03% that has a PS3 that is truly 'Dead'

Hi mate, I'v basically had the same problem as you mines a 60GB (it was one of the top 500 made) never updated or anything and my brother turned it on in the morning played it for 20 mins before it went off. The fan test doesn't work aswell so disc still in there. What do I need to do to get it working or isn't it going to work again??

@AKY4LYF The best bet that I know if, is to check out the link in the description. It's a how-to guide that will get your PS3 back working cheaper than what it would cost you if you sent it off to $ony! :P

I have the exact same problem but I can put my ps3 on then 2 mins later or something it turns off and also the yellow light isn't there because iv had YLOD before so if u get a you tube link or something how to fix this fault please send me it

@MEOWCI, the symptoms you now have are just like detecting cancer early. True, you now know your PS3 has it, and it's only a matter of time before it gives up the ghost. Best of luck!

Mine just turned yellow yesterday, I'm puzzled because of the videos of i've seen of the yellow light, my problem with the yellow light is unique. From what i've seen, once the light is yellow it turn red and stays off. Press the button again and it turns yellow and off again. But for me not only did my ps3 light turned yellow, red and off; I'm pressing the button again and it began working like normal the light is normal. What just happend, I'm too afraid to continue using the console.

@lawrence4566 While your symptoms may seem unique, they are just a sign that it will eventually fail. Mine did this at least 4 times (died, revived, died, revived, then... died for good). Sort of like this, your PS3 has cancer and will die if you dont fix it soon. Pretty simple to do actually.

When i turn on my PS3 its shows red then green then yellow then red and flashes red but know worries i am going to get the new NEW PS3

It's the infamous Yellow Light of Death. Your PS3 is dead man. Gotta ship it to Sony for repairs or get a new PS3 to solve this.
