A lot of people teach Wing Chun, but not all do it to the same quality. In this video I give you some basic tips on how to find a good sifu, and what to avoid.

  • What do you think of Sifu Keith Mazza who teaches out in New Jersey?

  • @mastercatx Hi, I've only seen his videos on YouTube so it's hard to form a really educated opinion, but it appears that he uses a lot of strength rather than pure technique. Not a criticism, but that's how it appears.

  • r for 14 years and he seems very knowledgable. My school is very underground no advertising. only 10 students including myself, he has to meet you first and decide if your gonna take it serious and are respectful. I am wondering if these are good things to teach in the first class? First form obvious yes, went over it very well. chain punching on bag, iron palm excersizes on the bag for conditioning hands. and than basic blocking drills. would you think this a good class/Sifu?

  • @DMulah3 I'm not really in a position to tell you if this is a good class/sifu just from what you've told me but the fact that your sifu vets his students before allowing them to train sounds promising. Really though - you get out what you put in so train hard, ask many many questions and train with intention, good luck on your WC journey!

  • You're right, I don't know how they got that title and I wouldn't ask. Google their names. Who is your Sifu?

  • @kh280 I'd rather not say to be honest - he's a private person and I wouldn't want anyone to think I was speaking on his behalf.

  • TU! nice video, it promotes thought, much better to be a thinking student than one who was just influenced by an external source. but I'd like to add that if the instructor cannot answer a question, this is not necessary a bad thing. I'd rather train with someone that says it's traditional rather than someone who always has answers, instructors are students too, and should have plenty of questions too! Happy Holidays! take care man

  • Hey there,

great video. I am looking for a good teacher already for a long time. My former one left my country and now I kinda have high expectations.

I tried already four or five different schools, yet, but really there are so many fucking retards who beat up their students and stuff and usually they are weak themselves.

I still call myself lucky to have had a good teacher for quite some time - just like you did.

however, i wanna move on and learn more.

Thanks again for your vid. Namaste

  • No worries MrYattix. Have you heard of Grandmaster Klaus Brand of the International Academy of WingChun? He came up with a brand new WC system in 2003. Please look him up and let me know your thoughts. I met one of the Sihing's and took a free lesson. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
