Nice radio. Do you still use it? I am thinking of getting the FT450D. They cost about $950 USD.

I still have the radio and it worked fine until I leant it to someone who left it connected to their antenna during a lightning storm. I'm going to attempt to repair it.

I don't understand what the 'width' control is for on my 450. Should I keep the middle setting (5 lights lit)? Is the 'width' control also for the TX signal, or just receive? Thank you in advance.

The width control is you bandwidth control. It only affects receive. You adjust it to where it sounds good to you.

Yes but consider this video was made when this radio first came out. It is much cheaper now as stated in the video. Have another look at the video and the posted comment.
