St Josemaria himself asked for a journalism degree to be set up at the University of Navarre
Im Monica Herrero, Dean of Navarre Universitys Faculty of Communication.
As university dean and journalist,
I think one of St Josemarias most relevant fields of influence
was his wide vision of the future of professions in the media.
At a time when journalism wasnt considered a university-level degree course in Spain,
he himself asked for a journalism degree to be set up at the University of Navarre.
Our faculty has now celebrated its 50th anniversary of media studies,
and our slogan was 50 years preparing for the future.
This was in the spirit of St Josemaria, who undertook great projects,
not looking to the past, but always dreaming, humanly and supernaturally,
giving each instant an eternal dimension, always preparing for the future, thinking of what comes next,
Not getting bogged down by present problems.
In our daily work in the faculty thats what we try and pass on to others,
to students, professionals, lecturers:
that those 50 years preparing for the future are something we need to be able to look at in St Josemarias spirit, which is what fills this corporate work.
