Chicago firefighters battled a routine blaze in a vacant 1 story commercial, getting a knockdown within several minutes. Within seconds, the routine nature of the incident deteriorated into chaos as a rear wall collapsed on multiple firefighters who were within the structure looking for possible victims. At this time, two firefighters are confirmed dead and 14 others injured.

Why would they not sound the roof and make sure that no collapse was immanent? I blame that on leadership. You have to size up the scene and weigh the options. Firefighting 101. My heart goes out to the families.
