I totally agree with you that "the poet and the Pendulum" is a waste with Annette. Her voice is not beautiful enough for this epic, lyrical song. I think the whining you are talking about is made by the 2 choir boys, not Annette. I can't stand it either and they are a poor substitute for Tarja... Tarja would have done so well with this song. I would love her to sing it because it was made for her voice. She would bring out the true beauty of this song and would blast Annette's ok version!

And yes, I also love her MWS album. I saw her Live in Zurich in a tiny club and it was the best concert of my life! I was first row and she blew me away with her voice, charisma and songs!

Yes, the slow parts especially are a let down with Annette's voice. She has to sing with the choir boys to add some depth to it but with not much success IMO...

Tarja would had done better with this song. The high-pitch whining is what I called Anettes slow piece in the song I think it was the part before the poets death I can remember at the moment.

It was an u tube about the Poet and the Pendulum, by chance i hit 1 and it was her singing Alone without the instrumental, I'll try to find it. Obviously if the NW come to Southern Europe I'll go, I agree with you they are Excellent musicians, except Anette.

Totally agree. What a disappointment (it is an understatemnt. I am angry that my fav band didn't choose a lyric performer)... Annette is not that bad but not for NW. Where do you hear her rehearsing without instruments?

I completely agree with you. You should still go to the concert for the music if not for the vocals. I went to their concert in Sydney (02.08)and I still had a great time. The music was awesome and in the excitement of the moment I was not so focused on Annette's lack of style and uninspiring Live performance(those horrible vocals during "Wishmaster" particularly!)She was energetic and all smiles. I am disappointed and angry that NW chose a singer with a generic voice but I still love the music
