Can you point me to a source in substantiate your claim?
And there are better ways to gather information from suspected terrorists. Under torture, people are liable to say anything. I've heard interviews in which interrogators have talked about the usefulness of trust building exercises and what not. Water boarding also diminishes the image of the US in the world. If you want to fight terrorism, it's best not to give people reasons to carry out terrorist attacks.

@archange26 and could you explain why the united states executed japanese soldiers after ww2 because they used waterboarding on your soldiers??? complete double standard. Your country was involved in the geneva conventions and the UN doctrine against torture and completly abused your standing in the world that just because your the united states you dont have to uphold to documents that you pretend to adhere to. Torture embarrassed your country which will take a while to get respect back

@archange26 waterboarding is torture there is no debate about it I know your country likes to debate any and everything all the time but in this case no debate it is torture. So your saying that if you dont torture you wont win the war???? that doesnt make any sense at all last time i checked you killed bin laden and there are around just 100 al-queda in afghanistan what exactly has to happen before you say we won we can go home???
