  • I just Looked up the set list from the show an ur right. My B. Is sounds just like the one off of well matched Jerry Garcia and merl saunders.

  • @stealyourface9142 - yeah if you don't have it, check out the show on Archive (youtube doesn't seem to like link posting here)....but i just love that spring 71 sound.

  • This is not the dead it is Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders. also im 18 and im going to see furthur agan in June. hell fuckin ya.

  • @stealyourface9142 - Sorry, kiddo. You posted something that was not true. Hell fucking ya. Have fun at the show, though.

  • @ deadair789 jerry makes the music come to life ,you can feel the emotion

  • great tune!

  • why is everyone fighting over who this is? you can clearly tell its the dead and not garcia/saunders. You can't mistake bobby's guitar in this tune

  • Very similar (same month & 5th as opposed to 1st time played) with better sound...4/25/71 is posted as is:

    4/18/71

    lesser sound, 4th time played

Every version of this the Grateful Dead did is (for them) uncommonly similar. I've heard at least four of them. First (in'75) was 4/29/71 I'm surprised it's not up here... That night's Hard to Handle is not to be missed! &Alligator/drums/jam/GDTRFB/Cold Rain& Snow is SWEET SWEET SWEET!!!

  • @stealyourface9142

Don't be so sure about that. If date/venue posted (April 8, 1971 Boston, MA) is correct then it IS the Dead. The Dead only played it 6 times, all in April of 1971, the 8th, 14th, 15th, 18th, and twice during their final (5 night) run at the Fillmore East in NYC on the 25th & 29th ref.'Deadbase' All 6 are very similar especially for the Dead

I've been listening for 40 yrs & this sounds like PHIL, not John Kahn to me.

    PS

Merl may have got Jer to play it 4 the 1st time.

  • keystone encounters?

  • I still think it's funny that they could never get the lyrics right in the chorus. The second time through the real lyric is "If you feel like giving me a lifetime of devotion" but they almost never got it right.

  • @stealyourface9142

your an idiot this is the dead the one and only they played this tune - ur 18 its understandable

  • @bladder1010 I consider myself someone who loves music, is not tone-deaf, and also has at least some sense of rhythm.

    But still I love this.

  • @JimmyPage97 Nothing's wrong with it, if you hate music / are completely stoned / tone-deaf / have no sense of rythm -- or any combination thereof. Gawd, what a leaden bootmash.
