This is because you need to have a QT MPEG-2 component.
You can either buy it or it comes as an install with FCS 1 & FCS2.

Is this the basic version of Mpeg streamclip you are using or is it the upgrade that costs? I have the basic and it won't allow me to import the vob files from my dvds. Is this because they are encrypted or is because I'm using the basic version of streamclip or another reason altogether? Please let me know, thanks.

There is only 1 version of MPEG StreamClip - Free...
You probably can't import your VOB's because the DVD's have CSS encryption. There are ways around that. DO a search then you will be fine. Make sure that you have the MPEG-2 QT component.
