In this lesson I'm demonstrating the use of the "Pentatonic-mode" over the whole range of the Guitar in 5 positions, within every pattern I've composed a lick so you can hear how such a pattern is used in a practical sense. I believe spending time to learn these patterns is very beneficial for developing your improvisation skills. For guitarists the Tabs and notes are available scored in Guitarpro5 (or PDF) a "small fee" will be asked for all my work. I'm busy developing (paid) lessons on my Site where more "advanced concepts" will be thoroughly explained with Tabs and Musical examples. For more Info: http://www.jazzguts.com

  • You explain it very well, most informative.

Hey Joe was my introduction to music when I started playing bass guitar. (I didn't play guitar before the bass)

I'm a hacker at guitar but I try.... got lots of of knowledge and hints from watching you play.

    Thanks Vic!!!!

  • @willybass123 Thanks for the very supportive words and very glad you got something out of this one, greetings Vic.

  • Hi Jazzguts, great lesson.

I think the same idea can be used with the major scale, played over the whole range, which is similar to using different modes withing the major scale, but instead of always thinking modes, it can be more free to just think major scale (and not to worry about the mode), but over the whole range to bring variety. That's what I do anyway.

Thanks for the hard work you put for your fans!

  • @greenlentils Thanks Friend, of course you're right,I use this Idea (concept) with pupils to get the pentatonic scale in their fingers and it works. I can teach them the basics but the enthusiasm has to further come from them selves to use this material with trial and error till it becomes useful for them. Information can be bought (here on YT for free) Wisdom can't. Wisdom has to be lived, cheers Vic.

  • Good solo, it's real than it's easy to allways play pantatonic in the same range, good idea to teach people to do it all range. In Canada, I bought a book name Killer Pantatonic with all those explanations. The cover is a terminator hand playing guitare, it's a little kitch, but the book is good.

  • @SebSirois Thanks Seb, this is the first in depth comment I'm getting from a musician who grasps what I'm trying to explain, probably there are many books on this subject, the main thing is the way of thinking and understanding the meaning concept adaption and fusing this in individual improvisation,Vic.

  • Hello Vic: I just wanted you to know I have been listening, I was in the Hospital with a strong case of Pneumonia so it's really hard for me to come up stairs to the loft to view YT. But when I do, I really DO.....I have enjoyed all of your creative works. You still inspire me and move me with your methods and experiences. I am still in the slow recovery stages, I'm managing. Peace be with you.

    Hen

  • @peterqb24 Thanks Peter, this is a lesson I do at my private Music school and the students enjoy it because of the examples given within the scales, thought I'd share it here with much more people, greets Vic.
