@LeeJ2512 Oh don't get me wrong, I would love him to have read the books. That way he could have given Newell his opinion on how Dumbledore would have reacted when Harry's name came out of the Goblet. Don't get me wrong, reading the books would certainly help, especially when they have a director who doesn't really understand the characters. Harris was lucky in that sense, because Columbus really KNEW what the characters were about.
@seraduha1 Ok fair play but it would certainly help, i mean gambon admitted himself he had no clue what he was doing he would just pick up a script and do as it said he wouldnt know WHY that character had to do it etc so it wouldve been nice to get a bit of backstory for dumbledore.
@LeeJ2512 Let's not be coy, you'd be just as smug if you had "won" an argument. Besides, your point about Harris playing the role again is moot, because he also stated in that interview that his agent made him sign for more than one movie. The point I was trying to make was that actors don't need to read the books or research the role to do a good job. Harris was perfect in the first one, Gambon was perfect in HBP. Not reading the books should not automatcially make them terrible as Dumbledore.
@seraduha1 and also harris must have had some interest in the series or he wouldnt have attended all the premieres or took the role of dumbledore a second time etc
@seraduha1 to be perfectly honest, ive lost interest in this series, so i dont feel i need to prove my point to a complete stranger over the internet about a topic we both dont even really care about. its just a waste of time i have other things to do so i think you should go and get some fresh air and find something more interesting to do than be smug for winning an argument about harry potter.
@LeeJ2512 the answer is in the sidebar funnily enough, in the video "Harry Potter Special - Rosie O'Donnell - Part 4"
In that video Harris says "I never read the books, NOR WILL I EVER READ THEM". Therefore, as you said myself, my argument is valid. Now it's your turn to prove he ever said that he read the books to his granddaughter. You are however right that his granddaughter had to threaten him into taking the role; further proof of his lack of interest in the series.
@seraduha1 prove to me he said that he had no intention of reading any of the books, and your argument would be valid. and if your point was true how come he was quoted as also saying he read the books to his grandaughter every night and if he didnt take the part as dumbledore she would never talk to him again
@LeeJ2512 You obviously misunderstand. Harris stated quite categorically that he had never read ANY of the books, nor would he EVER read ANY of the books. Didn't want to, simple as that. So your whole argument about how terrible it is that cast members don't read the books fails quite miserably...
