But it may be nearing a renaissance as wind turbine production and installation accelerate in the area. A nearby community college is offering certification in wind turbine repair and maintenance, giving locals hope for well-paying jobs.

Corona sits in the path of one of the best wind corridors in the country. But there are problems, like transmission and wind intermittency, that need innovative solutions.
