This is at the Illinois Fire Service institute.
This explorer gets out of the hose tower drops the "hotel pack" gets on the slide and gives up. Just a demonstration of how "not to do" this thing. He almost had it. But he spent way too much energy on little swings.

  • This is the only time when you can quit and learn you weakness to improve upon. Quit in a fire and you or someone else dies.

  • Valiant Effort!

  • WEAK!!!! lol jk jk

  • Too bad thats not the real CPAT Test...Thats straight out of the fire competition course....and it is short, quick hits to move the sled fast, not chopping wood here.

  • cpat was made so girls can pass. hope this kid came back and passed, and didnt give up on his dream.

  • its all mental. work through the pain

  • lmao he sucks even i know u gota keep ur feet infront of the slide thingy u have more power thats common sence right there i dont even know shit about firefighters

  • going in for the CPAT in two hours. If I get to that point, I want him to get my face and start screaming like a Marine DI haha. Since I didnt qualify for the marines because of medical reasons, going for my 2nd choice :)

  • "You're doing good, keep going. You're doing good man." Wow, talk about patronizing. I know that this exercise is hard. You really need to focus on how you swing the hammer to generate a good force. I've seen some guys lift the hammer half way up, barley making any sort of impact on the bar.

  • Hit the two bottom corners like bottom left the bottom right tht shit moves lol I did it in six or seven hits

  • When I did it, I couldn't swing the sledge higher than the chest. It's not as hard as it seems as long as you keep momentum and follow through. Try to hit it flat as well and you should be good.

  • He's way too far back relative to the sled.
