  • Great performance, but let's get things straight on the orchestra. It's not London, but the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the fiery Hungarian Antal Dorati and recorded at Northrup Memorial Auditorium on the University of Minnesota campus, circa 1960. Most definitely one of the best Rach 2 perf's around!

  • Oh yes, you're totally right. It's the third one which is with the LSO.

  • héhé sorry ^^

  • Janis is a genius... I love this recording.

  • @onemalcolm1 I think you and I are soulmates.

  • Byron Janis is my favorite all-time pianist . I started listening to him in 1960. No one like him. His interpretations are exquisite. Technique impeccable. Timing perfect. Clean and beautiful. Dynamics soaring. A true gift to the musical world.

  • What makes it Old school?
