Police clearing protesters from BBC Manchester in Gaza Flotilla protest

31st May 2010 - A small number of protesters tried to enter the lobby of BBC Headquarters, Manchester as the protest march against Israel's assault on the Gaza 'Freedom Flotilla' returned to its original starting point. The police responded harshly in their efforts to eject protesters, initially from the lobby, then from the steps outside. The BBC's only coverage of the whole Manchester protest (that I could find) centred on this brief lobby occupation: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/10199808.stm . I should add that I didn't hear of or see any violence or aggression from protesters, even though the police were quite aggressive at times.

@patch1949 A limited number of protesters trying to occupy the BBC's lobby might not have been the brightest idea on their part, but emotions were understandably high on 31st May, and it was otherwise a large, peaceful and respectable (and highly warranted) protest which, incidentally, still received no TV coverage that I know of. Protest itself (i.e. speaking out) is essential. Heard of THX1138, Equilibrium or 1984?

However, we're not, we're discussing humans who are trying to make a positive difference in a world of dictators and despots, not just for themselves, but for people like yourself who don't even realise.
