  • FYI - 5-21 - I heard that the Ozone rep will be at Ray Hubbard this Saturday to demo new kites and boards. I think they will be at Dalrock or fireant mound

  • @dkaakd Cool...thanks for the heads up. I'm not sure where fire ant mound is, but I'd imagine they will be at Dalrock since that's where practically everyone launches

  • Dalrock? Looks like you are heading right to the bridge. I hate the walk from the boat ramp to the water entrace.

  • @dkaakd I was heading across a South wind from the Peninsula far from the bridge, but when I'd lose an edge in the strong gusts I'd head North toward the bridge fairly quickly. We always launch well upwind of any land and just work on staying upwind. Having a boat and a partner makes all the difference when you're learning.

  • Is this @ the Dalrock entrance? You other vid. looks like you are heading out into the lake, but I thought the wind usually blows to the bridge.

  • @dkaakd We launch from all over the lake...since we're just learning how to ride and have trouble staying up wind and returning to the same launch point, I bout a sport boat which we take turns manning. With the chase boat, we can launch far upwind and ride across the whole lake...then deflate the kite, put it in the boat, pick up the rider and motor back up wind. In this particular video we launched from the Peninsula into a South wind

  • @tatorsal Yes, we've had quite a few nicely warm and windy days and the water temps are already into the low 60's (so no more wetsuit soon).

  • @tatorsal I've never been surfing, but my best guess would be that kiteboarding is like a cross between surfing and wakeboarding...only in kiteboarding you have more freedom of movement on all planes. I'm just learning how to do it myself, but I really enjoy and highly recommend it.

  • Nice spring winds for some kiteboarding. Is that really like surfing with a kite?

  • Got to love spring, for the winds and the kites...
