Pete Best in response to an audience member asking who his favorite Beatle was; he answered 'John'. My memory card filled up right in the middle of this video, so if it seems short, that's because it is.

Pete: The first time I met John was when he opened at my mother's club, the Casbah back in 1959. And the first time I met him, I liked his image. I liked his sense of humor, I liked his sideburns. [chuckles] I liked the baseball boots he was wearing. And I got on well with him. Little did I know, twelve months down the line, I would be part of his incredible band [??] Hamburg.

  • Lennon seemed to make a habit of being a jerk and this piece in which he talks about Pete is no exception. Lennon and his cheap shots...

As I understand it, Pete went through some extremely dark times following his cold dismissal from the group. He really seems like a content and happy guy now. I'm sure the Anthology money didn't hurt either...

Here's the clip in which Lennon talks about Pete Best's departure.

  • Pete Best speaks much too kindly of Lennon, but Pete seems like an extremely likeable guy, so I'm not surprised he'd be so complimentary. He obviously looked up to Lennon and considered him a pretty good friend.

  • @alphakid42 john said he regretted how he treated pete he said he was a coward for not talking to pete face to face. George and Paul felt the same. i dont know how ringo felt but he has nothing to feel guilty about i guess he might feel guilty in a way

  • Who cares what Pete thinks about the Beatles. I want to know what John thinks about Pete, but sadly, we will never know.
