Promotional trailer for DEMO benifit screenings. First Avenue: Hayday is a concert documentary made up of footage shot at First Avenue nightclub, in Minneapolis, from 1985-1992. Produced and Directed by Rick Fuller. Edited by James K. Lambert
First Avenue "Hayday" was produced as a benefit for the Minnesota non-profit DEMOmn.org. Rights to the footage are represented jointly by First Avenue and DEMOmn.org. The artists within the film were contacted about the two Mpls. screenings and were aware that the screenings were to benefit DEMOmn.org. If a DVD is ever considered, the artists will be contacted and publishing issues will be addressed. No plans for a DVD release are in the works. There may be additional Mpls. benefit screenings for DEMOmn.org, but nothing is scheduled.

First Ave. became a big part of my life after I moved to Mpls in 1989. I remember on Jan. 22, 1992 when Soundgarden was opening for GnR across the street and walked over to play a few songs before the Run Westy Run took the stage. Oh ya, and on the same bill were The Jayhawks, Trip Shakespeare, Babes In Toyland, Soul Asylum and more! I also saw Nirvana there on Oct. 14, 1991 for $6. However, I still think both Soul Asylum and Run Westy Run at 1st Ave. was something special.
It'd be nice to see this and see how rose colored glasses it is - the late 80's were when most people there were either coked up or smacked out, never seen so many not nice people in my life.
Molly McManus! Ha ha... I snuck in with a friend's ID to see T-Bone Burnett in 83. That was great. GG Allin nearly killing himself in the Entry, gross. The Wipers in the Entry--bone chilling. Funseekers, Mofos, Magnolias, Replacements debuting a new drummer. I lost my graduation watch on the floor at that show--in what... 88? Gibby Haynes stroking his belly before their set. Foetus--weird. The Residents and Snakefinger with the Crashdummies! Oh, and CHEAP TRICK! God what a club.

And that's just the staff.

Notice I didn't spend the time to abbreviate "by the way".
That's how much respect I have for that band.
If you are smart, you will take this rambling message as a sign.
