  • Marc, I will dig for you.

  • "Most American women are having their cake and eating it too, and they are increasingly doing much better than most American men." True.

They are starting to boycott it statistically speaking. I can't paste in links here but read Matthew Weekes "The Marriage Strike" from a few years ago.

  • Confidence is an attribute completely immaterial to a man. That doesn't factor in. A woman's social status--provided she does not have a negative reputation for promiscuity or drug use--is irrelevant. What you're saying is inaccurate. People slept with queens like Catherine and Elizabeth to preserve the placement of their heads.

  • Actually no, fewer American men get married today than ever before. For my age cohort it's down from 89 percent to 59 percent over a 30 year period. That may have been true many years ago, however.

  • "A cute, fit, intelligent and successful woman can always get a young boy toy." Okay, for how long? What if he sleeps with her for a month and then gets rid of her? Is that okay with her? I doubt it. Check out those statistics on older women who commit suicide. Often, a meaningless hollow sexual experience occurred beforehand.

  • What's stopping them? But let's not lie and pretend older retreads are just as attractive as the younger versions. Frankly, I don't care what they do. They divorce and cheat right now so what difference does it make?

  • Further, there are no "Alpha women." Attractive women exist though. Whether they have money and power makes no difference whatsoever. Obviously you are a woman because only a woman would try to convince a man what males find attractive, lol. "Victorian bliss?" I don't care what happens to them. It's their choice and their life.

  • There is no such thing as an Alpha Female because that which is attractive for a man in a woman is NOT the same as what is attractive to a woman in a man.

A woman's power, status, income, title is IRRELEVANT to men.

To the extent that there IS a thing as an alpha female it is SOLELY based on the scale of a woman's BEAUTY, youth, and feminity.

  • yes... I CAN'T STAND when these women come up with the idea of an "alpha woman". There is NO SUCH THING.

  • She giggles at this muchly.

(also she now admits that "Return of the King" WAS crap)

  • Your wife has any clones? I would like to meet her (clone). ;-)

  • stability and personality.

When I met my wife she was very fast. (and she was a budding feminist) But she listened to the counter arguements and agreed that her's were flawed. The thing that attracted me to her was that she was rational and didn't play girl-games.

Going on 10 years and two kids now - still rational, still strong. Last major fight was over how crap "Return of the King" was.

  • The 'not giving it away' concept is an interresting one. While I agree with almost everything else you say - this one I'd like to process some more.

Males compete very strongly for the pretty girl who plays hard to get - then when they get her they walk away as she is very high maintanance.

What if the competition for sex was taken out of the equasion? Like in pre-columbus Hawaii?

If sex was just as easy to get from women as it is from men, would guys pay more attention to emotional .. (cont)

  • Actually they are having the box of the cake and feeding the dog. As a true believer in personal responsibility, I hold no one responsible for their fate than themselves. So if they are happy with the box- good, if not - still good.. I think you missed Bernard's point. You can try to wake a sleeping person, but you cannot wake up a person pretending to be asleep.

  • Alright, alright. You had me at "Tolkien"

  • Yes, I have- Several years, in fact. I don't understand your point though! My views are not uncommon. When I attended grad school most of the women I met were very much how I described them. They had lots of fun, but they still went places in life and married later on. I guess it is the social circle you travel in.

  • Have you ever been to the States? You sound like you're out of touch with whats going on in this country.
