Oh wow... this brings back memories. I fly in, this music starts playing, I start shooting, AND I DIE!? The thing shot a lightning bolt at me!? This can't be the final boss! And then I kill it, the credits roll, and I sit there and blink once... Ahhhh, the memories of the first Gradius final boss to fight back... ahhhh...

I've seen quite a few boss videos of the Venom fight, and everyone noted the same reaction as I had the first time I ever fought it for myself.
*Dies* "Wait, did that thing just shoot a bullet at me ?!"
The first time I ever fought Venom, I actually thought the boss was a gunwall. I mean, nevermind the next to impossible stage, but surely this thing was shooting too many bullets to be the final boss.

It was actually some RELIEF for me to see a Final Boss that actually fights back. I like it when Final Bosses offer a good challenge, not when they're just a dud that's sitting there waiting to be annihilated.

The fact you actually made it to the final boss is impressive. I still can't beat Nemesis 2 or the any of the MSX sequels (especially Salamander). They are extremely unforgiving.

Oh, GOD! Don't remind me about Salamander MSX, that game gets me so friggin' pissed off. Reaching Venom(the Final Boss) in Nemesis '90 Kai is bad enough as it is(trust me, I lost my temper quite often trying to reach Venom), but Salamander MSX is just insane. The only redeeming factor is that the MSX games have unlimited continues. But then again, it's like when you die in R-Type's later stages: what's the point of continuing when it's impossible to get anywhere without Power-Ups?
