One of America's best kept and darkest secrets: Children in public schools of the 21 U S states where corporal punishment is allowed, are abused daily, often at criminal levels. But the laws protect the abusers,i.e., the teachers and administrators.
Corporal punishment in today's public school system is NOT the proper subject matter to involve bible scriptures, just for the simple fact religion is not practiced in the public school system. How do you know that the "STATE EMPLOYEE" even believes in the B-I-B-L-E? But some are willing to give "STATE EMPLOYEES" the right to use "THE ROD OF CORRECTION"???
@sophiemomo3 ~Excuse me but I believe they have removed prayer from schools a long time ago! Which in essence means no religion in PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEMS- Please do not quote bible scriptures where they are not even allowed to be practiced! I do believe in JESUS CHRIST, I just don't want anyone who can not legally profess their faith in public to have the LEGAL RIGHT to "PADDLE" my child. Because their interpretation of "paddling" may be the equivalent to my interpretation of "ABUSE"
To all the remarks that are not supportive to this video,Corporal Punishment by a stranger?Come people, open your eyes! Teachers only spend hours with any given child, they can not give reassurance to that child that they have their best interest at heart because of that fact. They only spend a fraction of time with that child - PUBLIC authoritative figures should NOT be given the legal right to physically discipline a child when they are only with that child 1440 hours (MAX in 1 school year).
@JBthebirdhunter The fact is that no statistic justifies that claim. Case data does indicate that kids in almost all of these states have been hospitalized as a result of corporal punishment - yes, with sanctioned implements like canes and paddles.
Statistics also indicate significant risk of retaliation against staff through vandalism and open acts of violence. Mind, violence against staff who practice violence against kids is something that I support wholeheartedly.
