I did that with my 2ed brew after I saw it was going to blow over like that. I used my Siphon tube and a bowl of water as my new airlock and aved myself QUITE a mess.
Its the plan now for ALL my beers. The first 48 hours of fermentation is quite volitle in my opinion :O

just wait til it all spoils :P yuck all that will become vinegar >.<

Headspace is PRICELESS.

@nodogyougay48 I've always used a inch round blow hose and never had a hose blow off. I've 34 and have been making all grain beer with my father since i was 17 years old.

Yeah, go to a 6.5Gal Primary and you shouldn't have to worry about blowoff. I've never come close to blowing out my S-bend airlock, even with high OG ales.

Congrats. you made a siphon
Was the end of your blowoff tube above the water in your bucket? DIVE! DIVE! Gotta get that thing under water to prevent air from coming back in.

It didn't look like it, but it was under the water. I am working on getting a bigger fermenter now, that should take care of the blowoff!
