I just watched the first episode, A man Called Ragan, which was a spinnoff from "Cheyenne." Ragan was a one-eyed, officially resigned US Marshall. The man he is hunting hires JD to kill Ragan. This and other oddities. This episode is available as a bit Torrent download.

In 1963, I was six years old, and always saw the promos for this series. I wanted to watch it, but it was a week day show, and I could not watch many of those. But NOW, thanks to Classictvcollector and You/Tube I can watch it ! I remember a line spoken by one of the stars of the show . "We can either put the whole town in jail, or kill them" ! This appears to be an outstanding series, that should be released on DVD.

@spacepatrolman This is, in fact, the episode that triggered the protest mail that led ABC to cancel "The Dakotas"
-
Larry Ward had a small role in Hombre where he played a soldier. Richard Boone ran him off and took his seat on the stage.
-
The show was cancelled because chad chased a suspect into a church and killed him with a shotgun there were letters off protest [I wonder if this is the beginning of that episode that we are watching right here ] .
-
He wrote some plays and was also in the outer limits and the rat patrol .
