Carrizo Gorge in San Diego County where the "Impossible railroad" was completed on November 15, 1919, by John D. Spreckels at the approximate cost of 18 million dollars.

Goat Canyon railroad trestle considered the tallest curved wooden trestle in the world at 180 feet tall and 750 feet across.

Temps outside towards the lower half of the ride were approx 105 degrees. It's important to carry plenty of water. The railroad is now open and operating with the bike trail currently CLOSED to bike riders.

We parked just outside the nudist resort and rode down the tracks. Take plenty of extra inner tubes, we ended up changing a lot inner tubes. The metal rails on along side the trestles seem to really cut into the tube.

There are patrols at times in the area to keep mtn bike riders off the tracks.

  • Some cool footage but some of it could be edited down. We don't need 30 seconds of you looking in a circle. 10 will do just fine.

  • We agree , the edit was on the quick.

  • hey its me again. is that long dark tunnel before the tressel or after? how do you get there again?

  • @fighterace34

On the way down it's before the trestle

  • Everybody's a critic

  • Not too dangerous anymore. The carrizo gorge railway runs the line but hard times have hit them too. Down from 1 or 2 freight trains a day to 1 or 2 a week makes it easy to stay away from railroad cops.

  • How many miles did it take you? In addition, could you hike it?

  • Nice video. I'm surprised some clowns haven't tried turning the bridge into the world's largest bonfire.
