GIMME SHELTER ist eine Dokumentation über das berühmt-berüchtigte Konzert der Rolling Stones am Altamont Freeway im Dezember 1969. Dieses Konzert hat seine traurige Berühmtheit dadurch erhalten, dass es als völliges Chaos begann und im Tod des 18-jährigen Meridith Hunter seinen tragischen Höhepunkt erreichte. Die Stones spielten nämlich mit ein paar anderen Bands (u.a. Jefferson Airplane) gratis, allerdings war die Logistik dieses Konzertes eine Katastrophe, die Bühne nur einen Meter hoch, es gab keinerlei Organisation und zu allem Überfluss wurden als Security die Hell's Angels engagiert, was zu permanenten Schlägereien an der Bühne führte - einer der Angels wars es dann auch, der Meridith Hunter direkt vor der Bühne und vor laufenden Kameras erstochen hat.

They had the best rhythm section ... at around 39 minutes on Honk Tonk W they show just how tight they were: bass, lead and rhythm.

@LifeofJob WRONG. Here was a situation where an outlaw,predatory gang was let loose upon kids just wanting too hear some good music. Why didn't you mention Woodstock, where there were LOTS of drugs and NO VIOLENCE(no Hell's Angels)proving that ,with the exception of Methamphetamine and one or maybe two others, people can partake peacefully off "illegal drugs'" When people get the ugliest, most vioent, is when under the influence of good 'ole alcohol-- Available to the booze addict legal.
