  • Where did you camp? In a few shots did I see other canoes? How long did you stay up there?

  • @hoz49 The other canoesyou saw was part of our group. We camped a little past where this video ended. The river is navigable for a mile or more past the upper Green River Lake. A log of my route can be found at Garmin Connect activity 13722330. There are no designated camp sites so you are free to stop and camp where you like but see Forest Service rules regarding the distance between your camp and water. We were in the area for a week.

  • What are the benefits of poling?

  • @LukeWarmHand

The benefit of poling is the ability to go upstream in shallow water where either the water is going too fast to paddle against the current or where the water is too shallow to sink the paddle deep enough to gain the force needed to combat the current. Poling was used by early trappers and explorers to navigate up and down streams. In this video there probably is no real advantage as the current was slow and for the most part the channel was deep. Thanks for the response.

  • That is some gorgeous country! A perfect day to pole on the perfect river. Thanks for sharing.

  • NWWoodsman, I appreciate the kind words. Your great poling videos inspired me to take up poling.
