I often wonder how Emmylou's career have been different if Parson's had lived, and got clean and sober. I love Emmylou. She is a treasure of the World, not just he USA. I'd drive from Boulder to Birmingham, or do a number of surprising things, If I could see my late wife one more time. RIP Mary Ann

the first i heard this i assumed it was a regretful break-up song. it was only later after i fell in love with it that it was about a death. whether suicide or not i love thus song even more, and want to console the lonely who sing this song to themselves.

This is one of the most beautiful songs every written about missing someone you so love, and know that you will never see them again. My dad passed away late last year and when I hear this I cry. I'd do anything to see his face again. Truly touching and heart-rending.
