At around 3pm on December 29, 2010, the water at Goldstream Park in Victoria suddenly turned neon green. They did some testing, and apparently someone dumped something called "Fluorescein" in the water Ministry staff says fluorescein is a synthetic organic compound soluble in water and alcohol. It goes on to say fluorescein is not toxic and the Ministry of Environment staff do not believe that fish or fish habitat were harmed during this incident. That's all fine and well. Sure, it's in the River, nothing can be done about that now. But what I want to know, and what they neglect to tell us, is WHY it was in the River!

  • It does say Fluoroscein causes allergic reaction to some people.

  • You realize your a reactionary moron. Fluoroscein is made for exactly this purpose and is used by environmental regulatory agencies and geological departments all the time. It is not pollution. Why don't you start a petition to prosecute sodium chloride sellers next.

  • @ChannelxxAUSTRIAxx01 Nobody likes a childish smartass, smartass.

  • Rio verde, Credence clearwater revival!!!

  • its not pollution you fashist

  • It a die called Fluorescein It's is a a fluorescent tracer. The color of its aqueous solution varies from green to orange as a function of the way it is observed: by reflection or by transmission, as it can be noticed in bubble levels in which fluorescein is added as a colorant to the alcohol filling the tube to increase the visibility of the air bubble and the precision of the instrument. Someone dumped it in the river.

  • nice joke :D

  • Eerie!

  • This is a flow tracer. Hydrologists use these kind of tracers for their electronic measuring instruments to get better feedback from water particles for a more precise discharge measurements. looks like some idiot spilled a whole gallon of this stuff... normally you use just extremely low amounts of it...
