EVE PVP - An insiders look

Eve online has one of the most robust player versus player system out of any MMORPG game. Which is suprising, since its a space based game. While the depth and scope of the game's pvp system cannot be captured with one single video. EVE features a "hardcore" or "loss" based system, where when you enter into an pvp engagement, you are putting your ships and your virtual assets on the line. Just like in real life, we can't pump out an infinite supply of tanks headed for Iraq, and in EVE, the best players pick their fights wisely, and can cover their losses if neccisary.

So yes, if your looking for a game with MEANINGFUL PVP, try eve online. It gets your adrenelane pumping MUCH more than a capture the flag joke of a warsong that is WoW.

To players already familiar with eve pvp, take note of the opposing forces vs us, and take note of the spider tanking and overall effectivness of our Fleet commander.

if you have no concept of what a full loot loss based pvp system is like, and only take the video verbatim, it may seem boring. Regardless of the outcome, alot of currency left the economy that day. Sadly, no video can truely capture sandbox/full loot vs themepark game mechanics. Maybe ill write a whitepaper on it someday, the system behind it influences how players approach the game. The old cliche is, INTERNET SPACESHIPS ARE SERIOUS BUSINESS

it is difficult to learn, and it is diffcult to get good at it. This game was not designed for casual market or for people who dont want / dont know how to think or strategize or work as a team with other like-minded players.

This game is one of the few online games that actully takes skill to be good at pvp. No overpowered class/gear combinations, no raid timers, just open ended sandbox where you do what you want.

these kinda fights are so rare, but they are so epic amazing when ti happens. Down to the WIRE man, its nice just completely dominating your opponent (see might makes right), but its fights like these that really make you a better player, and ultimately the most memorable.

@pgrec09 I find that trying to compare a game like WOW with a game like EVE is rather ignorant. Its like all the people comparing Halo and COD... The fact is, theyre not in the same class of gaming. They take ENTIRELY different skillsets. Eve requires a LOT more brainpower than Wow ever thought about needing, but Wow requires really fast reflexes. Basically, the two games cant be compared. Its like saying Apples make a better vegetable than carrots, even though theyre a fruit.

Im pretty new to Eve, only been playing a month. About to go rock some nullsec pvp in a cheap frigate just to experience this kind of gameplay. Ive played all sorts of PVP, but from what Ive seen EVE Pvp is more skill based than any other MMO out there. Good Fleet Commanding, I learned a bit.

alright you (wow pvp is complex crowd) to get a better sense of eve from terms that you will understand i will give you some basic examples of why eve pvp is superior. imagine if you will a mage that tanks like a warrior or a warrior that stealth's like a rogue or a death knight that heals! what u see in eve is not always what you get its all unknown in even you don't know what the other guys truly packing are until he opens fire.
