  • May he rest in peace. He helped others through the joys and pains of life. Thank Gd there are effective treatments for those with HIV and Aids today! LIVE!!

  • @DeefexNYC: It's just so unreal having lived through that period. Especially since nobody gave a shit about homosexuals (I don't think much has changed to be honest) and did nothing to warn them in the beginning. I remember when Rock Hudson got AIDS that the government finally 'woke up'. It just so weird that this man just kept on going knowing almost all of his friend were dead or dying. I guess you're right, he knew what his purpose in life was and that's what kept him going. Brave man!!!

  • @Cookiec1973 so then comes this music as sort of a soundtrack to all of that, add drugs. and people were having the times of their lives. it's just so sad that aids had to come along. i wonder how things would've turned out if aids never happened. but with mel i think that since he was at the end of his life, he must've not really been that distraught over it. i mean, it's a horrible thing and why did it have to happen. but he had done all he had to do in life. served his life's purpose

  • @Cookiec1973 Yeah man, it seems that people were more free back then. really enjoying sexuality and growing. and it's not that hard to understand, because up until then, homosexuality was a very hidden and taboo thing. so homosexuals must've always thought that what they felt was very wrong, it wouldn't have been accepted and they should just suffer in silence. and then came this movement saying, "hey, it's not wrong, it's not illegal, it's not taboo and guess what? a lot of people are doing it

  • @DeefexNYC: Thanks for the tip, but I think the book might be too shocking and sad for me. It's just so weird that this man survived the epidemic to be diagnosed with AIDS on his age. Life sucks sometimes!!!! I can't imagine that this guy is still so cheerful and not resentful. Well, you're right maybe I should read his book, just to get to know more about that era. I think people enjoyed life more back then and were not as uptight and afraid as they are now!

  • @Cookiec1973 yeah, read his book. i just got done reading it. it's so sad. it seems that aids was everywhere though. and i've talked to people who were old enough around the early 80s. and they said that it really was EVERYWHERE! you would go places and you see people with the leasions on their skin, or their faces drained. they were either dying themselves or taking care of someone dying. so sad. so many brilliant minds practically executed by the masses.

  • so sad. but to hear that he was past 75 in a way, he survived it. he did all he could to help spread aids awareness. god was calling him to be with his friends.

  • @ 0:06 Larry Levan. =(

  • love you uncle mel R.I.P
