Here we're feeding a little squirrel we recently rescued from the clutches of the neighbor's cat a mixture of peanut butter and water. We discovered later, when we took him to the wildlife refuge, that his right hand was lame (can't see it during the feeding) because of a previous broken bone that had healed wrong. They think this is what caused him to venture so close to us like he did. He was probably hungry. The video was taken with an iPhone 3GS.

  • Thanks! We turned him over to our local animal rescue. They examined him and found he had a healed, broken bone in the lame arm, but they felt their resident squirrel expert will be able to fully rehabilitate him and release him there. I felt better after seeing a caged squirrel there who had been hand raised by a family. He was so unhappy being caged, but he was unable to be released into the wild. :(
