Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! so much for putting this on YouTube. That is, without a doubt, the best performance of that third movement I have EVER heard - what power and clear articulation...incredible! I love Andre Watts! He recorded an album, "Watts By George!" - back in the 70's - His performance of the Gershwin Preludes is THE BEST. I have this on vinyl. Can't find this recording today on CD - Any clues as to where I might be able to find it?....and thank you, once again!

The genius of Beethoven and the interpretation of his compositions require an equal amount of intellectual and emotional input; and to evaluate any of his compositions, and the interpreters of his compositions solely by their emotional component it reflects adversely on the accuracy and validity of the "evaluator's” evaluation. No offense!

the older I get the more I appreciate this performance. It was a shock at the time since few had heard such technique on the piano, but today some pianist can play 'faster' and perhaps 'clearer'....some....but none have the poetry, the insight. to accompany faster and clearer. This man and Glen Gould stand alone in my mind.

this is the best ive heard this played- Out of maybe 30-40 performances, this guy is amazing- all gut he understands this song better thatn these goons reading notes
Does this recital published entirely in YouTube? It was one of my most shocking experiences, specially because Andre Watts performance received a coast-to-coast TV-cast including the whole backstage time (non commercials!!!!!) 120 consecutive minutes in front of the audiences. It requires a very special concentration and focusing to do it successfully. Bravo Andre!!!! I still remember it. (this concert was at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, New York during the eighties).

This recital was edited in an official VHS tape and you can find some pieces here in Youtube. Here you have the titles of three videos:
Andre Watts Liszt Transcendental Etude no.10,
Andre Watts Chopin Etude op.25 no.1 & "Revolutionary" Etude,
André Watts Plays Scarlatti.
