PLEASE READ!!!, A real bar in music is 1,2,3,4 but to count like that through a 12" would take ages so with this method you are basicaly reducing the counting. In this video we count the bars of one toon and bring it into the other in the corect place .

  • How could you do this during a live mix though? You cant just know every track inside out can you? thanks

  • he means music is broken down into bars of 4 beats that repeat 4 times. each bar brings either a new sound or does away with one.. picture a staircase that goes up 4 steps then down 4.. by the time the track is about at the second to last step.. you want to bring in the next track or staircase to maintain a constant flow of music.

  • @forever211325 Im as confused as you are mate, depends on what genre i think, i often phrase mix because I like having my mixes tight, Most new club music has this

  • @sugacityzfinest know your records

  • Hi, I'm a total beginner to Djing. I'm just wondering if all DJs do this whenever they are mixing? I thought they just throw in stuff on the fly. Or do most dance floor DJs use "cut and drop" method in clubs?

  • there are four beats in a bar, but not always 8 bars to a phrase, it depends on the music.

  • Be aware that not all tunes have 4 phrase intro or outros. It's just a matter of knowing your music!

  • He's counting phrases not bars.

There are 4 beats to a bar and 8 bars to a phrase.

In the vast majority of house music records a minor change will occur on the 1st beat of a new phrase. Major changes mostly occur on the 1st bar of the fifth phrase.

So, if you know that an intro to the record you are bringing in has 4 phrases or 128 beats before it "kicks in" and the outro to the tune you are playing has four phrases, then you can bring the next record in seamlessly.

  • this video is kinda confusing me isnt 1234 2234 3234 4234 a phrase so its 4 phrases and not 4 bars?

  • nice vid, but do you have any phrase matching tutorial?

  • what fat cunt

  • Gr8 tip for us rookies, good observation about the hair I've learnt shit loads from these vids DZr G
