Congo Square is due for release on June 9, 2009 on the Stax Records/Concord Music label. She has described the album as "personal and spiritual" and indicated that it will be more jazz-influenced than most of her previous work. Can't Last a Day, a duet with Faith Evans, leaked to the internet in March 2009 and has since gone for radio adds. Teena Marie says of Evans, "It was after I had recorded the song (Can't Last a Day) I got the idea to put Faith on it. Ive always loved Faith and her vocal style. She reminds me of me. Her correlation with Biggie - having a career with him and without him - reminds me of me and Rick (Rick James). I feel like shes a younger me. Of the younger ladies, shes the one I love most.

Beautiful song, but its Teena Marie, who does funky love songs better? She is underrated some, but she still has a long list of hits. She is still in the game strong after age 50 which many can no longer say. She can out blow many females her age and older, and the younger ones can't come close. WOW......heard this song for the first time this past weekend visiting St. Louis...reminds me of summers in the 80s of great music from artist like Teena and her mentor Rick James...This music sooths my soul. Also the piano track vaguely reminds me the 08 Rick Ross song "Here I Am" , wonder if there is a connection?
