Product Review: The Creative Memories Custom Cutting System, a Must for any Scrapbooker

I totally love the Creative Memories Cutting System. It was designed to be a quick and easy method for cutting shapes out of our photos and mounting paper. There are many different shapes such as circles and ovals to more fancy shapes like hexagons and hearts. I feel that some pictures really lend themselves to a certain shape. Like a baby that is crawling would make a great circle or heart. An adult would make a great oval. The Custom Cutting System consists of three blades with little"feet". These "feet" fit into a track on the shape patterns. Once the "feet" are placed into the track it will slide around. And with steady pressure the blade will cut the pattern. The three blades cut a little further away from the pattern than the one before. The red blade cuts closest to the pattern, then comes the green blade and lastly the blue blade. Each is perfectly spaced. So if you cut an oval on a photo with the red blade you can then use both other blades on colored paper, ending up with a perfectly matted photo. It is quite easy and it looks great! Did I mention that it is fast? It is really fast.

There are quite a few different patterns. But the really super thing about each pattern is that it is really six patterns in one. The three blades on the outside of the pattern make three different sized patterns. There is also an area on the inside of the pattern that allows three different smaller sized patterns. The possibilities are really endless with all the different patterns.

But I think that my favorite part of the Custom Cutting System is the self-healing mat. You can cut, cut and cut some more without hurting the mat. Hold it up to the light and look at the back. You can see tons of cuts, but touch the front and it doesn't seem affected at all. I use the heck out of my Custom Cutting System. I think I wouldn't enjoy the scrapbooking process without this wonderful tool.
