@epichero83 Actually u are completely right, bc his boyfriend said that Laos was actually very pretty, then he said, no it was nothing there, and he hasn't even been there lol. So u are right...kop kun na ka!

@Gille87 (from a lao-american) unfortunately, some thai people view lao people in a derogatory manner because some believe the culture is inferior (ie poorer economy, more rural, less refined in their view etc). Thus, you get stereotypes in this manner.

In fact, here is my generalization, but asians tend to create hierarchies based on industrialization and economy. you will find that some thais believe they're better than the surrounding countries like vietnam, cambodia etc.

I can here several tonal and grammar differences, but it sounds just like Thai:D Btw I asked my Thai friend about Laos, bc my favorite Thai actress is Chompoo Araya, whose mother is from Laos, while her dad is English, and he said that when Thai people speak about Laos, it's mostly in a degrading way, but he didn't say why, can someone shed light on this?
