25 years later and I still find this song popping into my head at times, yet I can't remember what I ate for breakfast yesterday. Disturbing.
Major lol @ 5:35.

Good work. I like the new intro. The Atari version of Popeye is actually a pretty solid port though, even though it looks rather fugly.

Atari 2600 had better games. Forget about the graphics. Ya Popeye and Donkey Kong were bad in comparison but did Coleco vision have Yars revenge amd cosmic arc? Nope.

@vintagevideogamegeek hey vintage when the famicom came out in 1983 this game was packaged with the system

The 2600 version of Popeye plays very well, actually.
And yes, the 2600 was released in 1977, and by the time the CV came around, the 2600 had an installed base of several million units. Most families simply could not afford a second game system. The CV had a much shorter lifespan, thanks to the ineptitude of the Coleco management (and certainly not helped by the great video game crash.)
This coming from a guy who owned both a 2600 and a Coleco ADAM

+1 on 2600 being a nightmare

his early name was brutus but then later renamed as bluto but yeah both names are correct and i used to sneak up of my room too to watch that show xD

@vintagevideogamegeek Oh,, I did. It looks more like the Colecovision I saw in your review, and actually looks better than the Atari version (which also is not the Colecovision I remind you). I remember someone older than me gave this game to me cause Popeye was one of my favorite cartoons. I was disappointed because before I ever played it, I imagined it being like Ninja Turtles 2 arcade, and found out it was like Ninja Turtles 1 (oddly enough).
If I'm remembering correctly, I think the way you get Bluto on level 3 is to run for the top level of the ship (no matter which way he goes). Then, wait for him to run across the 2nd or 3rd level below you. Make sure to miss the green slidy guy at the top, so you fall directly onto him. Please let me know if that works. Man, it's been a long time. I played so many CV games back in the day. I really wish I had my console & games anymore. Thanks for the memories!!

Why did you not review the NES version?
I used to want to eat spinach too, but would seldom get it,, making me defenseless too it's teeth grimy nature, and leaving me turned off to the muscle wilding green leaf.

@ManThatSeesMovies Because I was reviewing Colecovision games at the time. Also, I don't have the NES version.
