Totally great work by Alise in calling out Adrian Dix as NO Jack Layton. No worries here, great work Alise. Below is a transcript:

Alise Mills: "If Adrian Dix was charismatic and agile and as popular as Jack Layton then we'd have something to talk about. But Adrian Dix is known for being a polarizing force in British Columbia. I think he has a huge amount of work ahead of him.

"For his brand, his brand is so strong on dividing. Picking winners and losers in this province. He's no Jack Layton."

Moe Sihota: "That's more spin than substance."

Alise Mills: "No it's true. He's no Jack Layton. He's not going to get the numbers that Jack Layton's seen. Plus then you've got the anomaly of Quebec. So where is Adrian Dix' Quebec in British Columbia?"

  • Hey Polly...while your thinking how to reply to my last post, spare a few minutes to help Stats Canada identify ALL THE NEW JOBS CREATED BY THE HST. They seem to have a problem finding any.

In the latest figures, the FIVE provinces with the highest unemployment rates were Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, B.C. and Ontario. In case you aren't aware, all five have the HST.

The 3 provinces with the lowest rates are Alta, Sask and Manitoba . None of the three have the HST. Hmm!

  • @CanadianFamily I normally don't respond to name-calling. Alise Mills - an economist, pundit and all-around genius - says repeatedly on C-FAX to wait a year. Good point though.

  • Where is Adrian Dix' Quebec in B.C.? That's an easy one.....It's every voter who doesn't want his or her pockets picked by HST advocates!

And say what you want about Adrian (whom I have never supported.....yet), but at least he doesn't have a MUG SHOT on file with the Hawaiin PD. That's a lot more than you could say about ex-leader, isn't it?

  • @CanadianFamily 1) I guess you don't believe in paying for government but demand services UNLESS you're a libertarian CTF supporter. 2) So what about Premier Campbell's alcoholism? It's irrelevant to the likely 2011 election.

  • @ChristyClarkFan

You have it backwards my friend. It's the corporate sector that is always looking for a handout when it comes to taxes. You conveniently forget that this province was built with a dual tax system. Now you and some of your corporate parasites are seizing upon the fact that the "Poster Boy" of financial responsibility - Gordon Campbell - was an abysmal failure at balancing a budget.

Just wondering...were you always an HST advocate or only started chirping it after Gordo?

  • @CanadianFamily I support the HST as a fair tax system that tells taxpayers demanding more services what the cost will be.

Now get over Premier Gordon Campbell, will you? I feel I am debating with an unarmed person.

  • @ChristyClarkFan If Ms Mills is such an all-round genius/economist why wait a year? The fact is the Maritimes have had the HST since 1997, and STILL place 1-2-3 when it comes to Stats Canada's unemployment figures. Explain that!

Also, explain the DECLINING FIGURE OF FUTURE JOBS PREDICTED BY THE HST. Campbell stated the figure at 220,000 jobs. Within two weeks, this was reduced to 103,000 jobs. The govt panel now says 24,000 jobs. Keep going and it will be "JOBS LOST" not "JOBS CREATED".

  • As expected, you didn't answer the key question .....have you always believed that the HST was more fair OR.....did you start chirping that line ONLY after Gordon Campbell told you it was more fair? If the latter, that's realy thinking for yourself! "Polly want a cracker???"

Also, if it was so great, give us some insight into why Carol Taylor, the Liberal ex-Finance Minister, when asked if the province would consider the HST, her well-documented response was "not on my watch". Interesting!
