Families of war heroes killed or missing in action felicitated

The Defence Secretary has reiterated that the motherland had been saved due to the firm dedication of the war heroes.


Mr. Rajapaksa said that the soldiers battled skillfully everyday in these 30 years in the war against the terrorists. They did not suffer defeat even on any single occasion. Victory over terrorism was achieved mainly due to the experiences gained in the battle. He pointed out that due recognition should be given to the supreme sacrifices made in the battle against terrorism mainly due to the dedication of the war heroes

The Defence Secretary was addressing a ceremony organized to honour with the "Uththama Pooja" Medals close relatives of families of war heroes who had made supreme sacrifices or had gone missing in the operations to liberate the motherland from the terrorists. The ceremony was held at the Army Physical Training School auditorium in Panagoda. Medals were presented on behalf of two thousand 672 war heroes.
